2020 Audi Q5 vs 2019 Audi Q5
Serving Rockville, MD
The Audi Q5 is a small luxury SUV, a vehicle that will appeal to those looking for something other than the standard, moderately equipped crossover. It seats five with ease, and it comes with a plate load of standard features that focus on comfort and high-tech rather than on sporty performance. That having been said, this model certainly holds its own in the horsepower department, and it's easy to operate.
The 2019 Q5 received a modest upgrade, the most notable of which was the inclusion of more high-tech features on the base trim. The driver information display got a refresh as well, and the Premium Plus trim came with standard navigation and as well as wireless phone charging. The 2020 Audi Q5 is relatively unchanged, but there's a hint of shuffling of standard amenities between the trim levels.
Performance
All Audi Q5 trims come with a turbocharged 2.0L engine that produces a total of 248 horsepower. Transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and all-wheel drive is standard. The specs are identical between the 2019 and 2020 models. The Q5 is renowned for its overall driving experience, and the transmission shifts are quick and smooth. The vehicle goes from a full stop to 60 mph in just over six seconds, relatively fast for any crossover model.
Braking is equally impressive. The brake feel is slightly firm, and the Q5 goes from 60 mph to a full stop in just 114 feet, easily besting most of the competition. The Q5 can be operated in the driver's choice of Comfort and Dynamic modes, and the steering is perfectly weighted. The sharp turning of the steering wheel is effortless regardless of the tightness of the road turn.
Appearance
The 2020 Audi Q5 carries over from the previous year without any changes to the outward appearance of the vehicle contours. The gently sloping roofline and tall doors make for easy entry into the front or rear seating areas. The base Premium trim comes with 18-inch wheels, xenon headlights, a rear spoiler, roof rails with crossover bars, and LED taillights. Heated side mirrors and LED running lights are also standard. The Premium Plus trim gets 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic LED headlights. The range-topping Prestige model is similar in appearance and exterior accouterments, and it can be specially ordered with a fixed roof instead of the standard sunroof.
Several packages are available on both the 2019 and 2020 models. These include the Black Optic package for the Premium Plus trim. This package comes with 20-inch wheels and black exterior trim.
Features
Buyers don't get shorted if they settle for the base Premium trim. Both the 2019 and 2020 Q5 Premium models come with power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, transmission shift paddles, Bluetooth, and smartphone app integration. The uplevel versions add on wireless phone charging, satellite radio, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen display with a digital gauge cluster display, and a 10-speaker audio system. The Prestige has a Bang & Olufsen stereo. Automatic emergency braking is standard on all trims, and the uplevel models include the driver awareness systems.
